Effectiveness of the game play REBT group counseling for self-esteem improvement of middle school girls

Abstract
This study are to develop the Game Play REBT Group Counseling for self-esteem Improvement of Middle school Girls and to examine the effects of the program on improving middle school girl¡¯s Self-Esteem. Subjects were 12 second-grade adolescents who showed low level self-esteem in pretest. They participated in the Game Play REBT Group Counseling once a week in ten weeks. The Game Play REBT Group Counseling program was based of the Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy(REBT) of Ellis and game play therapy. The program was consisted of ten sessions that include five phases which are building an egalitarian and a reliant relationship, understanding self, understanding others, separation-individuation and closing. Major findings were as follows: First, The Game Play REBT Group Counseling improved participant¡¯s low level self-esteem. Second, Specifically, negative comparison with others reduced and peer position, general reliance of self, family relationship have been improved.
